Scripps Health is a nonprofit, community-based health care delivery network consisting of four acute-care hospitals on five campuses in San Diego, California, that includes more than 2,600 affiliated physicians, an extensive outpatient care network, home health care and associated support services. Scripps Health has a long history in San Diego, dating back to 1924 when Ellen Browning Scripps founded Scripps Memorial Hospital and Scripps Metabolic Clinic in La Jolla. As a result of the July 2000 reaffiliation with Scripps Clinic and August 2008 introduction of Scripps Coastal Medical Center, Scripps Health now has over 12,000 employees and cares for patients at 19 outpatient facilities throughout San Diego County.
